Executive Committee

Raffaele Iannizzotto was appointed as President to the Chamber Board in February 2020. He is an electronic engineer with over 20 years’ experience in management of complex projects in international organisations. He works for Leonardo, an Italian global high-tech Aerospace, Defence and Security company. Leonardo is the eighth largest defence contractor in the world. Raffaele was initially posted to Canberra in 2007 and in 2015 moved to Perth to assist the Commonwealth of Australia at the HMAS Stirling Naval Base. Raffaele has been a member of the Chamber since 2017. He is the head of Italian Academy of Cuisine ‘delegation in Western Australia.

Maurice Argento was appointed as Vice-President to the Chamber Board in February 2020. He is founder and Managing Director of Mainsheet Capital, a specialist corporate advisory firm providing strategy, operational improvement and transactions (M&A) advisory services. He brings experience across a number of industries in particular services to mining and oil and gas, manufacturing, health services and agriculture. He was previously a partner of PwC and Arthur Andersens, and Finance Director for a Swedish chemical group in Italy and Mobil Chemicals in Italy and Belgium. Maurice has been a member of the Italian Chamber Board for the past 6 years.
 
Richard Horan Goldsmith was appointed as Deputy Vice President to the Chamber Board in February 2020. He is a director-stakeholder at Warrengo Energy and he is an expert in international trading or the energy, mining and resources sectors, in particular between UK and Australia. Richard has been a Committee member of the Italian Chamber since 2017.
 
Simone Scagnelli, PhD was appointed as Treasurer to the Chamber Committee in February 2020. He is Director, Accounting & Finance and Associate Professor in the School of Business and Law, Edith Cowan University (ECU). Prior to coming to Perth he taught at the University of Turin and ESCP Business School. Simone gained extensive experience in the industry working as a consultant and chartered accountant at LS Lexjus Sinacta, a top Italian Law and Accounting firm. He held several positions as independent director for private, public and not-for profit organisations. He is currently a member of the Scientific Committee of the Innovation Center of the University of Turin, Italy.
 

New Committee Members

Liz Benson was appointed to the Chamber’s Committee in February 2020 and is a member of CPA, associated Fellow the Institute of Managers and Leaders Australia. She has formerly been a Director of two AHPRA medical practitioner Boards and several other not for profit boards.  Liz has extensive corporate governance, risk management and financial management experience and currently works as a Trainer/Facilitator/Lecturer/Educator for the Australian Medical Association WA.
 
Chiara Giovanrosa was appointed to the Chamber’s Committee in February 2020 and is a committed business advisor with experience within the Big 4 consulting firms, both in Italy and in Australia. She is currently a Manager at Churchill Consulting in Perth where she advises clients on performance improvements, strategy and project management. Chiara brings a follow-through attitude and is driven by her passion for finding solutions to complex problems and adopting technology to support progress. Chiara is also a mentor of UWA students and has been involved in med-tech start up as founder and director.
 
Giorgio Giuriani was appointed as a Committee Member of the Italian Chamber in February 2020.  He is an Italian-qualified solicitor. Giorgio currently works in the capacity of a Contracts Advisor for Civmec, an ASX-listed construction and engineering services provider to the oil and gas, metals and minerals, infrastructure, and marine and defence sectors. Giorgio has a Bachelor of Laws from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan.
 
Vincenzo Scalera has worked in the Information Technology consulting industry since 2005, after graduating in electronic engineering. He worked as consultant in several European countries before moving to Australia in 2009 where he broaden his technology focused expertise to include business process improvements and automation, business analysis and project management while consulting for organisations in multiple sectors including oil and gas, resources and government. In 2018 he co-founded DataHadron, a tech startup that provides cloud-based solutions for small and medium enterprises.
 
Edoardo Lissoni is the Business Operation Manager of Mondo Nougat, a WA boutique confectionery company. He has over 10 years’ experience in sales, strategic planning, marketing and financial management acquired both in Italy and in Australia. In 2018, he co-founded Datahadron, a tech startup that provides cloud-based solutions for small and medium enterprises. Edoardo has a Diploma in Information Technology and he is currently undertaking a Master in Business Administration & Management.

Existing Committee Members

Paolo Amaranti is the Director Place Management and Asset Maintenance for the Department of Local Government Sports and Cultural Industries. He was formerly CEO of the Rottnest Island Authority having held the position for 13 years and has extensive experience  in the manufacturing, education, tourism and professional services sectors in his role as  Executive Director Tourism Western Australia and the Department of  Commerce and Trade for over 30 years. Paolo was the President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce 2017-2019.
 
Edoardo Sommacal has over 14 years’ experience in Management, Project Finance & Control, Commercial & Business Development, R&D and Technology & Innovation. Edoardo is the Managing Director of Matec Pacific and Managing Director of CSD Services, strategic partner of a few OEMs, focused on providing turnkey solutions in the water treatment industry. He has a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master in Project Management. Edoardo is Member of Engineers Australia, AusIMM, the Institute of Quarrying Australia and has been a Committee member of the Italian Chamber since 2015.
 
Alessio Capelli is a CPA professional of long standing and with over 30+ years in a variety of senior management and corporate governance roles across a range industry sectors. Alessio has a degree in Economics and Accounting and has been a Committee member of the Italian Chamber since 2017.
 
Stepping down from the Chamber’s Board is Tony Iannello. Thank you for your valuable contribution over the last three years.
 
We would also like to thank Roberta Ceresa for her continued support as Executive Manager. With a great passion for sales & marketing and over 25 years’ experience in streamlining systems, processes and procedures, Roberta has considerable experience and knowledge in dealing with Italian businesses in Italy and WA, given the diversity of her roles in running offices and supporting the Board of Directors for large Corporations like Fingruppo, CSC, Montedison and Edison in Milan. Roberta has a Degree in Foreign Languages & Literatures, a Diploma of Business Administration & Management and a Sales Representative & Business Agent Registration.
